The John T Reid Charitable Trusts support a range of creative and innovative programs and projects which would advance the interests of both individuals and groups, including research and development projects. The Trustees will also consider supporting capital works programs to further the aims of an organization.

The Trustees welcome applications to fund the establishment of a project in its early stages, expecting that future support would be provided by the wider community and/or government partnerships.

The John T Reid Charitable Trusts prefer to support a small number of organizations with relatively large amounts rather than to give small amounts to many, but they encourage applications from organizations where a small amount would make a substantial difference. The Trustees prefer to give to charities unable to secure significant government support, to specific projects rather than general purpose funds and give special consideration to those organizations which Trustees think are valuable to the community, but which lack fundraising capacity.
