Application Process
The John T Reid Charitable Trusts have moved to an invitation-only submission process for their granting activities. The process will operate twice a year.
The new process will enable the trustees to focus on granting in key areas of need by identifying the organisations that are or have the potential to be effective change agents.
There will be two types of grants. Both will be via invitation-only submissions:
(a) grants up to $250K for projects that require funding in the short term or for an immediate and/or current need in the areas of: Aged and Palliative Care, Arts and Cultural Heritage, Community and Social Welfare, Health and Medical Research, Environment, Education and Youth Support.
(b) multi-year funding for longer-term projects that are deemed ‘strategic’. This means that they have strong potential to be truly impactful in a chosen area or in relation to a particular need or issue. The Trusts will seek appropriate guidance from industry/sector experts and peak bodies regarding the identification of organisations and/or projects that are likely to be most influential and impactful in achieving real change within a sector. It is expected that these grants will lead to major partnerships with charitable organisations.
The trustees and office staff will be active in approaching organisations and experts for their input regarding sector needs and potential responses. This will underpin the selection of projects for which a submission invitation will be issued.
