The Application Process
There are two periods a year when the John T Reid Charitable Trusts are open to consider new funding enquiries; dates are updated on our homepage and are usually in January/February and again in June/July. The application process is in two stages, designed to provide feedback to applicants in a timely manner. The first stage is an online enquiry form, and the second stage is a submission. The steps in our process are outlined below:
-
1. Enquiry
- When the Trust office is open for funding enquiries, applicants will be required to complete an online enquiry form which will be available as a link on our homepage, titled 'Funding Enquiry'
- This link will only be visible when the enquiry period is open - dates are on the Homepage
- We encourage you to complete your enquiry form as early as possible during the enquiry round, as Trustees reserve the right to change the closing date
- The Trustees are only able to consider one enquiry per funding round from an organisation
- Enquiries are considered by Trustees who decide whether to accept a full submission
- This decision is based on many factors, including funds available for distribution, and other grants committed within each funding sector
- If the Trustees invite a full submission, the office will provide Submission Guidelines outlining information required within an application and cut off dates
-
2. Submission
- Submission meetings are held in May and November each year
- Only applicants whose enquiry is approved may send a funding submission
- Applicants are allocated a Champion Trustee; after your submission is received, you will have the opportunity to speak with this Trustee about your project
-
3. Grant Decision
- All applicants will be advised via email as to whether their submission has been approved
- Approved applicants will be asked to complete a Grant Deed and advise when payment is required
- When the project is ready to proceed, the grant will be paid by electronic funds transfer
- Grant recipients are required to send back an official receipt
-
4. Project Underway
- Six monthly reporting required as per Reporting Requirements which are provided at the time of grant payment
-
5. Project Complete
- Final report required when all funds have been expended, including a full income and expenditure statement
- Organisations are then asked to wait two years before reapplying
